The analysis of the TVE and TV3 coverage of the Haitian humanitarian crisis following the earthquake of January 2010 shows that although there is a concerned perspective regarding the fate of the victims, in a high number of news of both chains there are topics and stereotypes ordinarily used in reference to the South and that the discourse has often a patronizing and neocolonial slant.
