Previous genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of stroke - the second leading cause of death worldwide - were conducted predominantly in populations of European ancestry ,. Here, in cross-ancestry GWAS meta-analyses of 110,182 patients who have had a stroke (five ancestries, 33% non-European) and 1,503,898 control individuals, we identify association signals for stroke and its subtypes at 89 (61 new) independent loci: 60 in primary inverse-variance-weighted analyses and 29 in secondary meta-regression and multitrait analyses. Background: Currently available treatments for Parkinson's disease (PD) do not slow clinical progression nor target alpha-synuclein, a key protein associated with the disease. Objective: The study objective was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of prasinezumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds aggregated alpha-synuclein, in individuals with early PD. [...]

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the second most common cause of genetic-based intellectual disability, after trisomy 21, and the leading cause of inherited intellectual disability. In males, since they have only one X chromosome, the fact of being carriers of the complete mutation of the FMR1 gene causes a total absence of the FMRP protein while in females, it leads to a partial decrease, since the chromosome with the unaffected FMR1 gene will be able to synthesize a certain amount of FMRP.
