14 p, 1.5 MB BBX16 mediates the repression of seedling photomorphogenesis downstream of the GUN1/GLK1 module during retrograde signalling / Veciana, Nil (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Martín, Guiomar (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Leivar, Pablo (Universitat Ramon Llull) ; Monte Collado, Elena (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Plastid-to-nucleus retrograde signalling (RS) initiated by dysfunctional chloroplasts impact photomorphogenic development. We have previously shown that the transcription factor GLK1 acts downstream of the RS regulator GUN1 in photodamaging conditions to regulate not only the well established expression of photosynthesis-associated nuclear genes (PhANGs) but also to regulate seedling morphogenesis. 27 p, 1.2 MB Phytochrome-imposed inhibition of PIF7 activity shapes photoperiodic growth in Arabidopsis together with PIF1 , 3, 4 and 5 / Leivar, Pablo (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Martín, Guiomar (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Soy, Judit (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Dalton-Roesler, Jutta (University of California, Berkeley. Department of Plant and Microbial Biology) ; Quail, Peter H. (University of California, Berkeley. Department of Plant and Microbial Biology) ; Monte Collado, Elena (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Under photoperiodic conditions, Arabidopsis thaliana seedling growth is inhibited in long days (LDs), but promoted under the extended nights of short days (SDs). This behavior is partly implemented by phytochrome (phy)-imposed oscillations in the abundance of the growth-promoting, phy-interacting bHLH transcription factors PHY-INTERACTING FACTOR 1 (PIF1), PIF3, PIF4 and PIF5 (PIF quartet or PIFq). Department of Plant and Microbial Biology) ; Monte Collado, Elena (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Plastid-to-nucleus retrograde signals emitted by dysfunctional chloroplasts impact photomorphogenic development, but the molecular link between retrograde-and photosensory-receptor signalling has remained unclear. [...]

Plants coordinate their growth and development with the environment through integration of circadian clock and photosensory pathways. In Arabidopsis thaliana, rhythmic hypocotyl elongation in short days (SD) is enhanced at dawn by the basic-helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTORS (PIFs) directly inducing expression of growth-related genes [1-6]. 12 p, 1.2 MB PIF1 promotes phytochrome-regulated growth under photoperiodic conditions in Arabidopsis together with PIF3, PIF4, and PIF5 / Soy, Judit (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Leivar, Pablo (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Monte Collado, Elena (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Seedlings growing under diurnal conditions display maximal growth at the end of the night in short-day (SD) photoperiods. Current evidence indicates that this behaviour involves the action of PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTOR 3 (PIF3) together with PIF4 and PIF5, through direct regulation of growth-related genes at dawn coinciding with a PIF3 accumulation peak generated by phytochrome-imposed oscillations in protein abundance. 145 p, 10.0 MB From underground to sunlight: characterization of PIF target genes define novel PIF-regulated processes / Rovira Feixa, Arnau ; Monte Collado, Elena, dir. ; Leivar, Pablo, dir. ; Llugany i Ollé, Mercè, dir.
Plants perceive and integrate external (such as light and temperature) and internal (such as hormones or the circadian clock) signals to optimize growth and development in a changing environment. Light is used not only as a source of energy for plant photosynthesis, but also as a source of information to perceive the surrounding environment. [...]
