Este trabajo es una investigación documental descriptiva que responde a la pregunta: cómo estudiar a los grupos desde la perspectiva comunicativa. Para lograr este objetivo se estudian dos teorías generales de la comunicación de grupos: la Teoría Funcional desarrollada por Gouran e Hirokawa (1983,1986,1996) y la Teoría de la Estructuración desarrollada principalmente por Poole, Seibold & McPhee (1986,1996); Ambas teorías persiguen estudiar cómo la comunicación influye en el proceso de toma de decisiones en los grupos pequeños. This work is a descriptive documental investigation that pretends to answer the question: how to study the groups within the communicative perspective. To carry out this objective two general theories of group communication are studied: the Functional Theory developed by Gouran and Hirokawa (1983,1986,1996) and the Structuration Theory mainly developed by Poole, Seibold & McPhee (1986,1996); Both theories are concerned by how the communication influences the decision making process within the small groups.
