Previous studies have demonstrated that in spontaneous speech, Rioplatense Spanish speakers-in contrast to speakers of Peninsular Spanish-sometimes produce clitic-doubled accusative nominal objects. The current study compares the distribution of clitic doubling (CD) in two varieties of Spanish: Peninsular Spanish and Rioplatense Spanish.
