Els títols de films en llengua anglesa són, avui dia, textos (o paratextos) de gran importància cultural en les societats occidentals. En aquest article ens ocupem de dues qüestions: (1) del fenomen -força popular- de la traducció dels títols de pel·lícules en llengua anglesa que arriben al nostres cinemes; repassem les variades tipologies emprades per analitzar les traduccions dels títols dels films a l'espanyol; i (2) de les traduccions dels títols dels films de Quentin Tarantino a diverses llengües del nostre entorn (espanyol, francès, italià, portuguès, alemany, i també català); tractem de trobar algunes claus explicatives per aquestes traduccions, i valorem la incidència de factors com el doblatge vs. [...]
In Western societies, English-language film titles are today texts (or paratexts) of a great cultural importance. In this paper we address two questions: (1) the highly popular phenomenon of the translation of English-language film titles that are released in our cinemas; we revise a variety of typologies employed to analyse the translation of these film titles into Spanish; and (2) the translation of Quentin Tarantino's film titles into a number of languages around us (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, and where possible Catalan); we try to offer several explanations for these translations, thus weighing the influence of such factors as dubbing vs. [...]
