Con questo studio si percorrono i numerosi luoghi dell'opera petrarchesca impegnati in questioni d'arte, sugli artisti, gli artefici, le opere che il poeta ebbe modo di vedere o frequentare. Si tratta di esperienze che è necessario indagare attraverso la prospettiva privilegiata della costruzione della biblioteca di Petrarca e del suo specifico amor librorum: perché di fatto l'avvicinamento all'arte -nei casi petrarcheschi qui studiati- avviene invariabilmente in nome di un distacco dal valore materiale di essa e a favore esclusivo, invece, di una superiore substantia spirituale riconosciuta all'esecuzione artistica. By this research I cover the various places of Petrarch's work connected with artistic matters or about artists, craftsmen and artworks which the poet saw or met with during his own lifetime. The topic is to study all these experiences through the perspective of the building of Petrarch's library and his specific amor librorum: actually, the poet's approach to art -in the cases in point- invariably happens in the name of a disjunction from the material value of it, and on exclusive behalf of a superior, spiritual substantia that is typical -in the poet's opinion- of artistic engagement and achievement.
