Storyworld possible selves (Martínez, 2014, 2018) are mental constructs used in the study of narrative engagement within cognitive linguistics and cognitive narratology paradigms. A storyworld possible self is formally conceived as a blend resulting from the conceptual integration (Fauconnier and Turner 2002) of two input spaces: the mental representation that readers entertain for a narrator or focalizing character, and the mental representation that readers entertain of themselves, or self-concept.
