Methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) is a transcriptional regulator and a chromatinbinding protein involved in neuronal development and maturation. Loss-of-function mutations in MeCP2 result in Rett syndrome (RTT), a neurodevelopmental disorder that is the main cause of mental retardation in females. [...]

Departament de Medicina i Cirurgia Animals) ; Corradini, Ignacio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Medicina i Cirurgia Animals)
Reasons for performing study: Nutritional support in critically ill neonatal foals is of great importance given their high metabolic rate and minimal stores of energy and protein. Nutrient requirements of healthy growing foals have been estimated based on daily milk intake; however, little is known about the resting energy expenditure (REE) of sick foals. [...]

Our aim was to identify biophysical biomarkers of ventricular remodelling in tachycardia-induced dilated cardiomyopathy (). Our study includes healthy controls (N = 7) and pigs (N = 10). Molecular analysis showed global myocardial metabolic abnormalities, some of them related to myocardial hibernation in failing hearts, supporting the translationality of our model to study cardiac remodelling in dilated cardiomyopathy. A calorimetric method for determining isothermal partial and integral heats of hydration reactions (ΔH̄ ,, and ΔH̄,TP respectively) in zeolites and other mineral hydrates is presented. The method involves immersing a dehydrated sample in a humid gas stream under isothermal conditions within a thermal analysis device that records simultaneous differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) signals.
