Anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions directly or indirectly drive ocean acidification, warming and enhanced stratification. The combined effects of these processes on marine planktic calcifiers at decadal to centennial timescales are poorly understood. [...]

Research related to sustainable diets is is highly relevant to provide better understanding of the impact of dietary intake on the health and the environment. To assess the association between the adherence to an energy-restricted Mediterranean diet and the amount of CO emitted in an older adult population. [...]

Research activities generate considerable carbon emissions. Some universities and research centers have implemented voluntary measures to reduce academia's carbon footprint. To contribute to the debate on pathways to decarbonize the academic sector, this work calculates the carbon emissions of an international research project in relation to 1) research-related travel, 2) researchers' non-business travel derived from the international nature of the team, 3) researchers' commuting, and 4) project's digital footprint. Rice paddies are major contributors to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions via methane (CH) flux. The accurate quantification of CH emissions from rice paddies remains problematic, in part due to uncertainties and omissions in the contribution of microbial aggregates on the soil surface to carbon fluxes. CO2 emissions and economic activity : heterogeneity across countries and non-stationary series
/
Piaggio, Matías (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Economia Aplicada) ;
Padilla, Emilio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Economia Aplicada)
This paper explores the relationship between CO 2 emissions and economic activity for 31 countries (28 OECD, Brazil, China, and India) during the period 1950 to 2006 using cointegration analysis. Single country long run relationships are estimated, and equality in the functional form, the parameters, and the turning point, when appropriate, are rejected. [...]
