Palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of a lower to middle Permian terrestrial composite succession from the Catalan Pyrenees : Implications for the evolution of tetrapod ecosystems in equatorial Pangaea / De Jaime-Soguero, Chabier (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Mujal, Eudald (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Oms, O (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Bolet, Arnau (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Dinarès-Turell, Jaume (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)) ; Ibañez-Insa, Jordi (Geosciences Barcelona) ; Fortuny, Josep (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
Tetrapod diversity in Permian terrestrial ecosystems of southwestern Europe is poorly recorded by bone specimens, but it is better represented by an important tetrapod ichnological record that is relevant to our understanding of vertebrate communities in equatorial Pangaea. [...]

The Cisuralian-Guadalupian (early-middle Permian) was a period of climate transition between the Carboniferous icehouse conditions to the latest Permian-Early Triassic hothouse. The landmasses had coalesced in the supercontinent Pangaea and the climate was progressively becoming more arid, especially in a belt over the palaeoequator. [...]

23 p, 20.1 MB Extending the footprint record of Pareiasauromorpha to the Cisuralian : earlier appearance and wider palaeobiogeography of the group / Marchetti, Lorenzo (Leibniz-Institut f€ur Evolutions-und Biodiversit€atsforschung) ; Voigt, Sebastian (Urweltmuseum Geoskop) ; Mujal, Eudald (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Lucas, Spencer G. (New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science) ; Francischini, Heitor (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Laboratorio de Paleontologia de Vertebrados) ; Fortuny, Josep (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Santucci, Vincent (National Park Service. Geologic Resources Division (Washington, Estats Units))
Pareiasauromorpha is one of the most important tetrapod groups of the Permian. Skeletal evidence suggests a late Kungurian origin in North America, whereas the majority of occurrences come from the Guadalupian and Lopingian of South Africa and Russia. [...]

22 p, 1.7 MB The coupled occurrence of Cimmeriella-Jakutoproductus (Brachiopoda: Productidina) in Patagonia : implications for Early Permian high to middle paleolatitudinal correlations and paleoclimatic reconstruction / Taboada, Arturo César (Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia "San Juan Bosco". Facultad de Ciencias Naturales) ; Pagani, María Alejandra (Museo Paleontológico "Egidio Feruglio") ; Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina). Laboratorio de Investigaciones en Evolución y Biodiversidad
The brachiopod species Jakutoproductus sabattiniae sp. nov. and Cimmeriella willi sp. nov. from the Cisuralian deposits of the Tepuel-Genoa basin are described here. Biostratigraphy and stratigraphy of the uppermost section of the Tepuel Group (Mojón de Hierro and Río Genoa formations) are analyzed and a distinctive faunal succession is recognized: the Cimmeriella and Jakutoproductus faunal assemblages of late Sakmarian (Sterlitamakian) and early Artinskian estimated ages, respectively. [...]
