Nature and Culture : some thoughts on race, sexual orientation and science
/
Fry, Peter (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro)
This paper contemplates three dichotomies and the role of science in their generation and reproduction: nature / culture; heterosexuality / homosexuality; and black and white races. It is hoped that comparing them will provide yet more examples of how the objectivity of science is constituted by the social context in which it develops: how "race" may be denied by theoretical genetics but reinstated by pharmacogenetics and the drug industry, based on the folk categories of Western Europe and North America, which also define the variables used by researchers into sexual desire. [...]
[...] With the contrast of the two most frequent interpretations on the models of desire to know in the history of thought as starting point (both the aristotelian model and nietzschean model), the aim of this paper will be to present the nietzschean-heideggerian criticism of the anthropologic and metaphysic understanding of that desire, dealing with a problematization of the concept of origin that must distinguish between the different forms of considering it.
[...] In her well-known paper "Sorties", published in 1975 and one of the cornerstones of contemporary feminist theory, Hélène Cixous explores the bonds between phallocentrism and logocentrism. Her criticism of dialectics, alterity, sexual difference, desire, pleasure and writing are the basic elements of this text. [...]

I sogni di Zeno
/
Albertocchi, Giovanni
Composing his own diary as suggested by his analyst, Zeno Cosini writes about the his dreams in different situations. In this article we analyse the typology of these dreams, distinguishing between those intentionally constructed to mock the analyst and those that seem to respect Freudian orthodoxy.

[...] The article examines the type of dreams that appear in the Homeric poems. In them, we find dreams that are still inspired by what Freud defined as «primordial conception», or a representation outside the subject, as a type of message sent by the Gods as an exhortation or at sometimes to predict the future. La donna fantasma : immagini del petrarchismo filmico
/
Frezza, Gino
[...] The strength and magnitude of Petrarch's influence on cinema must sometimes be sought out with the Carthusian patience of the entomologist or like the study of metaphors. Nevertheless, Gino Frezza retraces the significant and unavoidable presence of Petrarchan poetic figures in the film tradition of both classic and modern, contemporary cinema. [...]

Mite i narració
/
[...] This article seeks to emphasise the central function of narrative in myth as a consequence of the central importance narrative possesses -or should possess- in the articulation of human existence. Traditionally, in the most varied and geographically remote cultures, narrative has been an indispensable element in order to demonstrate that grammar is a constituent of human nature, so that any crisis within the human always starts out through a distortion of grammatical structures.
