8 p, 649.1 KB A one-year follow-up study of the Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) and the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT) in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis : an appraisal of comparative longitudinal sensitivity / López-Góngora, Mariana (Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica Sant Pau) ; Querol, Luis (Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica Sant Pau) ; Escartín, Antonio (Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica Sant Pau) ; Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
Neuropsychological batteries are infrequently used to assess cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis because they are time-consuming and require trained personnel. The Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) is suggested to be a useful screening tool to measure cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis patients and is more valid and reliable over time than the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT). Bilateral regional brain oxygen saturation (rSO) trends, reflecting intraoperative brain oxygen imbalance, could warn of brain dysfunction. Various types of cognitive impairment, such as memory decline, alterations in executive function or subjective complaints, have been described three months after surgery. [...]

10 p, 368.0 KB Working memory performance differentiated by physical functional capacity in late-adulthood / Hsieh, Shu-Shih (National Taiwan Normal University) ; Hung, Tsung-Min (National Taiwan Normal University) ; Chu, Lin-Hsiang (National Taiwan Normal University) ; Chou, Wan-Chan (National Taiwan Normal University) ; Fang, Chin-Lung (National Taiwan Normal University)
The aim of this study was to examine whether working memory performance is differentiated by higher and lower physical functional capacities in the elderly. Forty-six healthy, active older males aged 65-75 years were assigned into either a Higher-capacity group (HC group; n = 23) or Lower-capacity group (LC group; n = 23) based on the median split of their distance walked in the 6-min walking test, an assessment tool for physical functional capacity. [...]
Very little is known about the differences of the neurocognitive functioning of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Paediatric Bipolar Disorder (PBD), since current studies do not agree on a differentiation of Executive Function (EF) between the two disorders. [...]
