30 p, 1.2 MB Monoaminergic descending pathways contribute to modulation of neuropathic pain by increasing-intensity treadmill exercise after peripheral nerve injury / López-Álvarez, Víctor M. (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Puigdomenech Poch, Maria (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Navarro, X. (Xavier) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Cobianchi, Stefano (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències)
This study characterizes the impact of increasing-intensity treadmill exercise (iTR) on noradrenergic (NE) and serotonergic (5HT) modulation of neuropathic pain. Following sciatic nerve transection and repair (SNTR) rats developed significant mechanical and thermal hyperalgesia that was partially prevented by iTR performed during the first 2 weeks after injury. 17 p, 1000.0 KB The Induction of heme oxygenase 1 decreases painful diabetic neuropathy and enhances the antinociceptive effects of morphine in diabetic mice / Castany, Sílvia (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Carcolé, Mireia (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Leanez Morilla, Sergi (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències) ; Pol Rigau, Olga (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències)
Painful diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus which is poorly controlled by conventional analgesics. This study investigates if treatment with an heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) inducer, cobalt protoporphyrin IX (CoPP), could modulate the allodynia and hyperalgesia induced by diabetes and enhanced the antinociceptive effects of morphine.
