22 p, 1.7 MB Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom as a 21st-Century Gothic Tale. An Antispeciesist Revision of Monstrosity / Vázquez Bouzó, Xiana (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
This paper considers Juan Antonio Bayona's 2018 film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as a Gothic film which disrupts the archetypal conventions of monster films, especially in relation to the antispeciesist conception of monsters -in this case, the genetically-engineered dinosaurs which feature in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World sagas. Large vertebrate carcasses contain significant amounts of nutrients that upon death are transferred from the water column to the benthos, enriching the immediate environment. The organisms exploiting these ephemeral resources vary as the carcass decays, creating an ecological succession: mobile scavengers arrive first, followed by enrichment opportunists, sulfophilic taxa, and lastly reef species encrusting the exposed bones. 15 p, 2.1 MB Depositional environment of the Fort Member of the Jurasic Jaisalmer Formation (western Rajasthan, India), as revealed from lithofacies and grain-size analysis / Ahmad, F. (Aligarh Muslim University. Department of Geology) ; Quasim, M. A. (Aligarh Muslim University. Department of Geology) ; Ghaznavi, A. A. (Aligarh Muslim University. Department of Geology) ; Khan, Z. (Aligarh Muslim University. Department of Geology) ; Ahmad, A. H. M. (Aligarh Muslim University. Department of Geology)
Lithofacies and granulometric analysis were carried out to decipher the depositional environment of the Fort Member of the Jurassic Jaisalmer Formation. Based on field data nine lithofacies have been identified including trough cross-bedded sandstones, planar cross-bedded sandstones, matrix supported conglomerates, thinly bedded siltstone and sandstones, herringbone cross-bedded sandstones, wave rippled sandstones, laminated sandstones, hummocky cross-bedded sandstones, limestones and shales. 55 p, 24.4 MB Structural and facies architecture of a diapir-related carbonate minibasin (lower and middle Jurassic, High Atlas, Morocco) / Teixell Cácharo, Antonio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Barnolas, Antonio (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Rosales, Idoia (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Arboleya, María Luisa (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia)
We report the structural geometry and facies architecture of a small diapir-related carbonate-dominated basin from the Jurassic rift of the Moroccan High Atlas. The Azag minibasin is a lozenge-shaped depocenter completely enclosed by tectonic boundaries that we interpret as welds after former salt anticlines or salt walls. [...]

A number of small Callovian-Albian sedimentary basins occur in the NE-trending Araripe-Potiguar topographic lowlying area. These basins developed in a fairly narrow zone of Precambrian supracrustal rocks from the Middle Jurassic onwards, as a consequence of the reactivation of ancient fault lines. [...]
