87 p, 4.7 MB Recent advances in the built-in electric-field-assisted photocatalytic dry reforming of methane / Lei, Yiming (Liaoning University of Technology. School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering) ; Ye, Jinhua (International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (Ibaraki, Japó)) ; García-Antón, Jordi (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Liu, Huimin (Liaoning University of Technology. School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering)
Methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are two major greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. The dry reforming of methane (DRM) is an ideal method for dealing with the greenhouse effect because it simultaneously consumes CH4 and CO2 to produce syngas. [...]

Morphological control at the nanoscale paves the way to fabricate nanostructures with desired plasmonic properties. In this study, we discuss the nanoengineering of plasmon resonances in 1D hollow nanostructures of two different AuAg nanotubes, including completely hollow nanotubes and hybrid nanotubes with solid Ag and hollow AuAg segments. 26 p, 2.3 MB Modulation of population density and size of silver nanoparticles embedded in bacterial cellulose : via ammonia exposure: visual detection of volatile compounds in a piece of plasmonic nanopaper / Heli, B. (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Morales-Narváez, Eden (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Golmohammadi, Hamed (ACECR-Production Technology Institute) ; Ajji, A. (Polytechnique Montréal. Département de Génie Chimique) ; Merkoçi, Arben (Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats)
The localized surface plasmon resonance exhibited by noble metal nanoparticles can be sensitively tuned by varying their size and interparticle distances. We report that corrosive vapour (ammonia) exposure dramatically reduces the population density of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) embedded within bacterial cellulose, leading to a larger distance between the remaining nanoparticles and a decrease in the UV-Vis absorbance associated with the AgNP plasmonic properties. 25 p, 2.3 MB Size-controlled synthesis of Sub-10-nanometer citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles and related optical properties / Piella, Jordi (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Bastús, Neus G. (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Puntes, Víctor (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia)
Highly monodisperse, biocompatible and functionalizable sub-10-nm citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) have been synthesized following a kinetically controlled seeded-growth strategy. The use of traces of tannic acid together with an excess of sodium citrate during nucleation is fundamental in the formation of a high number (7 × 10 NPs/mL) of small ∼3. [...]

Ordered nanopillars have been used as a smart configuration to design and fabricate localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensors. Importantly, these nanostructures can be integrated within microfluidic channels as a novel opportunity to enhance the response of biosensors and also to control the fluid flow by modifying the wettability surface of the walls. The field of environmental monitoring has experienced a substantial progress in the last years but still the on-site control of contaminants is an elusive problem. In addition, the growing number of pollutant sources is accompanied by an increasing need of having efficient early warning systems. [...]

Motivated by the recent progress in the nanofabrication field and the increasing demand for cost-effective, portable, and easy-to-use point-of-care platforms, localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) biosensors have been subjected to a great scientific interest in the last few years. [...]
