Oxidovanadium(IV) sulfate, VIVOSO4, is shown to catalyze efficiently the amidation of the C-H bond of aldehydes by N-chloramine derivatives for the selective synthesis of amides. The catalytic process is driven by visible light irradiation at room temperature, and the reaction is carried out in ethyl acetate, a green and bio-based solvent. [...]

Neither, (n)or nothing and hardly in negative concord constructions in traditional dialects of British English
/
Tubau Muntaña, Susagna (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
En aquest article, investigo, dins d'un marc minimista, com es compon en anglès britànic no-estàndard la concordança negativa en construccions que contenen l'adverbi negatiu neither, l'extensor general (n)or nothing, i l'adverbi escalar hardly emprant dades del corpus Freiburg English Dialect. [...] In this paper, I investigate, within a minimalist framework, how negative concord is composed in non-standard British English constructions containing the negative adverb neither, the general extender (n)or nothing, and the scalar adverb hardly using data from the Freiburg English Dialect corpus. The gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal barrier is often exposed to inflammatory and erosive insults, resulting in gastric lesions. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), such as hyaluronic acid (HA), chondroitin sulfate (CS), and N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) have shown potential beneficial effects as GI protectants. [...]

N-enriched biochar can increase the accumulation of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and biomass in rice plants. On the other hand, the biomass and C, N, and P contents of plant organs are important indicators to reflect plant C, N, and P storages. [...]

Human-driven global nutrient imbalances increase risks to health
/
Peñuelas, Josep (Centre de Recerca Ecològica i d'Aplicacions Forestals) ;
Sardans i Galobart, Jordi (Centre de Recerca Ecològica i d'Aplicacions Forestals)
Human-induced inputs of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) into the biosphere have reached unprecedented levels, particularly N, leading to an escalating global anthropogenic N:P ratio. This ratio has emerged as a significant driver of environmental change, impacting organisms, ecosystems, and global food security. [...]

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an environmental bacterium as well as an emerging opportunistic multidrug-resistant pathogen. They use the endogenous diffusible signal factor (DSF) quorum sensing (QS) system to coordinate population behavior and regulate virulence processes but can also respond to exogenous N-acyl-homoserine lactone (AHL) signals produced by neighboring bacteria.
