Two rationally designed strategies for covalent bonding of fluorescent dyes in coordination polymer nanoparticles aiming to achieve bifunctional fluorescent nanostructures have been developed. The first strategy was based on the synthesis of the coordination polymers structured as nanoparticles by coordination of Co ions to two different catechol ligands containing free functional chemical groups (dopamine and 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde), and a bis(imidazole)-based ligand (1,4-bis(imidazole-1-ylmethyl)benzene, bix). Here, a two-step method is reported that enables imparting new functionalities to covalent organic frameworks (COFs) by nanoparticle confinement. The direct reaction between 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene and 1,3,5-benzenetricarbaldehyde in the presence of a variety of metallic/metal-oxide nanoparticles resulted in embedding of the nanoparticles in amorphous and non-porous imine-linked polymer organic spheres (NP@a-1). Efficacy and efficiency of pesticide application in the field through the foliage still face many challenges. There exists a mismatch between the hydrophobic character of the leaf and the active molecule, low dispersion of the pesticides on the leaves' surface, runoff loss, and rolling down of the active molecules to the field, decreasing their efficacy and increasing their accumulation to the soil. [...]
