The non-Hermitian nature of confined photonic modes is described by the electric complex modal volume, VE, which represents a key parameter that leads to counterintuitive effects, such as negative modal contribution to the local density of states and non-Lorentzian lineshapes. [...]

Given p, q ∊ Z ≥ 2 with p ≠ q, we study generalized Abel differential equations (Equation presented), where A and B are trigonometric polynomials of degrees n, m ≥ 1, respectively, and we are interested in the number of limit cycles (i. [...]

ABINIT is probably the first electronic-structure package to have been released under an open-source license about 20 years ago. It implements density functional theory, density-functional perturbation theory (DFPT), many-body perturbation theory (GW approximation and Bethe-Salpeter equation), and more specific or advanced formalisms, such as dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) and the "temperature-dependent effective potential" approach for anharmonic effects. We study analytically the periodic solutions of a Hamiltonian in R^6 given by the kinetic energy plus a galactic potential, using averaging theory of first order. The model perturbs a harmonic oscillator, and has been extensively used in order to describe local motion in galaxies near an equilibrium point. Condition measures and properties of the central trajectory of a linear program

Freund, Robert M. (Sloan School of Management)
Given a data instance d = (A, b, c) of a linear program, we show that certain properties of solutions along the central trajectory of the linear program are inherently related to the condition number C(d) of the data instance d = (A, b, c), where C(d) is a scale-invariant reciprocal of a closely-related measure (rho)(d) called the "distance to ill-posedness".
