Control of rodent populations is a big challenge because of the rapid evolution of resistance to commonly used rodenticides and the collateral negative impacts that these products may have on biodiversity. [...]

Fossorial water voles, Arvicola scherman, feed on tree roots causing important damages in European apple orchards. Since the intensity of crop damage produced by rodents ultimately depends on their inherent capacity to increase their population, the main goal of this study was to determine the reproductive potential of the subspecies A. Cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV) is an emerging virus on cucurbits in the Mediterranean Basin, against which few resistance sources are available, particularly in melon. The melon accession PI 164323 displays complete resistance to isolate CVYV-Esp, and accession HSD 2458 presents a tolerance, i. [...]

Functional traits mediate the response of communities to disturbances (response traits) and their contribution to ecosystem functions (effect traits). To predict how anthropogenic disturbances influence ecosystem services requires a dual approach including both trait concepts. [...]

[...] Parasitic Hymenoptera are one of the most diverse and abundant insects and play an important role in limiting pest populations in agricultural crops. We carried out a five-year study on the number and diversity of parasitoid species associated with an organic citrus grove in Tarragona (Spain) to establish the effect of ant exclusion from tree canopies.
