14 p, 16.3 MB A model of two quantum fluids for the low energy excited states of the systems with entities that mimic the magnetic monopoles / López Aguilar, Fernando (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; López-Bara, Fernando (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física)
The low energy excitation states in frustrated magnetic structures can generate quasiparticles that behave as if they were magnetic charges. These excited states produce, in the so-called spin-ice materials, two different peaks of specific heat at temperatures less than 1. [...]

Cesium lead halides have intrinsically unstable crystal lattices and easily transform within perovskite and nonperovskite structures. In this work, we explore the conversion of the perovskite CsPbBr into CsPbBr in the presence of PbS at 450 °C to produce doped nanocrystal-based composites with embedded CsPbBr nanoprecipitates. [...]

Apart from being so far the only known binary multiferroic compound, CuO has a much higher transition temperature into the multiferroic state, 230 K, than any other known material in which the electric polarization is induced by spontaneous magnetic order, typically lower than 100 K. [...]

We analyze the anomalous wave structure appearing in flow dynamics under the influence of magnetic field in materials described by non-ideal equations of state. We consider the system of magnetohydrodynamics equations closed by a general equation of state (EOS) and propose a complete spectral decomposition of the fluxes that allows us to derive an expression of the nonlinearity factor as the mathematical tool to determine the nature of the wave phenomena. We report on in situheat capacity measurements (370-800K) using quasiadiabatic ultrafast differential scanning nanocalorimetry in thin films(1-200nm) of Nigrown by electron beam evaporation. The heat capacity shows a broad peak with a rounded maximum that is attributed to the decrease of long-range interactions in the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition of Ni. [...]
