Sumoylation in plants : mechanistic insights and its role in drought stress / Benlloch, Reyes (Universitat Politècnica de València. Instituto de Biología Molecular y Celular de Plantas) ; Lois, L. Maria (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Post-translational modification by SUMO is an essential process that has a major role in the regulation of plant development and stress responses. Such diverse biological functions are accompanied by functional diversification among the SUMO conjugation machinery components and regulatory mechanisms that has just started to be identified in plants. [...]

34 p, 1.5 MB Substitution of chemical dehairing by proteases from solid-state fermentation of hair wastes / Abraham, Juliana (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Química) ; Gea Leiva, Teresa (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Química) ; Sánchez Ferrer, Antoni, dir. (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Química)
The leather industry uses a chemical dehairing process that produces alkaline wastewater and hair as solid waste. A cleaner process is proposed in this work to reduce these environmental impacts. It consists of the valorization of hair waste together with sludge from wastewater treatment by a solid-state fermentation process to obtain proteases that can be used in an enzymatic dehairing process. [...]

27 p, 5.9 MB Interference with plastome gene expression and Clp protease activity in Arabidopsis triggers a chloroplast unfolded protein response to restore protein homeostasis / Llamas, Ernesto (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Pulido, Pablo (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica) ; Rodriguez-Concepción, Manuel (Centre de Recerca en Agrigenòmica)
Disruption of protein homeostasis in chloroplasts impairs the correct functioning of essential metabolic pathways, including the methylerythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway for the production of plastidial isoprenoids involved in photosynthesis and growth. [...]
