25 p, 1.3 MB Psych verbs in Japanese : Inchoativity and boundary types / Shimoyoshi, Ayumi (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Traducció i d'Interpretació i d'Estudis de l'Àsia Oriental)
Psych(ological) verbs pose a problem to theories about argument realization that assume a uniform and universal mapping between semantic relations and syntactic configurations. A number of attempts try to explain variation in argument structure in terms of the aspectual differences, assuming that the argument realization of a predicate is a reflection of the temporal properties of the predicate to some extent. 27 p, 518.9 KB Realization in biology? / Balari, Sergio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Filologia Catalana) ; Lorenzo, Guillermo (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Filología Española)
It is widely assumed that functional and dispositional properties are not identical to their physical base, but that there is some kind of asymmetrical ontological dependence between them. In this regard, a popular idea is that the former are realized by the latter, which, under the non-identity assumption, is generally understood to be a non-causal, constitutive relation. [...]

Departamento de Geometría y Topología) ; Macías-Virgós, Enrique (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Departamento de Matemáticas) ; Minuz, Erica (Aarhus University (Dinamarca). Department of Mathematics) ; Vilches Alarcón, José Antonio (Universidad de Sevilla. Departamento de Geometría y Topología)
The simplicial LS-category of a finite abstract simplicial complex is a new invariant of the strong homotopy type, defined in purely combinatorial terms. We prove that it generalizes to arbitrary simplicial complexes the well known notion of arboricity of a graph, and that it allows to develop many notions and results of algebraic topology which are costumary in the classical theory of Lusternik-Schnirelmann category. 9 p, 723.1 KB Consciousness regained? Philosophical arguments for and against reductive physicalism / Sturm, Thomas Kurt (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Filosofia)
This paper is an overview of recent discussions concerning the mind-body problem, which is being addressed at the interface between philosophy and neuroscience. It focuses on phenomenal features of consciousness or "qualia," which are distinguished from various related issues. [...]
