25 p, 555.4 KB Cross-level interactions in Latin : vowel shortening, vowel deletion and vowel gliding / Jacobs, Haike (Radboud University)
Serial and parallel OT differ in the way they account for phonological generalizations referring to more than one level of the prosodic hierarchy. Vowel shortening in Latin is analyzed by McCarthy, Pater & Pruitt (2016) as a case in point. [...]
La versió paral·lela i la serial de la teoria de l'optimitat (TO) difereixen entre sí en la manera com expliquen les generalitzacions fonològiques que es refereixen a més d'un nivell de la jerarquia prosòdica. [...]

14 p, 1.5 MB Effect of steam-treatment time on the length and structure of single-walled and double-walled carbon nanotubes / Kierkowicz, Magdalena (Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona) ; Pach, Elzbieta (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Santidrián, Ana (J. Heyrovsky Institute of the Physical Chemistry) ; Tobías Rossell, Ester (Universitat de Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya) ; Kalbáč, Martin (J. A major challenge to turn the potential of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into customer applications is to reduce or eliminate their toxicity. Taking into account health and safety concerns, intensified research efforts have been conducted to improve the biocompatibility of CNTs, including the development of new shortening and purification strategies. [...]

8 p, 2.0 MB Determination of the length of single-walled carbon nanotubes by scanning electron microscopy / Sandoval, Stefania (Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona) ; Kierkowicz, Magdalena (Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona) ; Pach, Elzbieta (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Ballesteros, Belén (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Tobias, Gerard (Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona)
A methodology is presented to determine the length of well individualized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Accurate measurements on wide areas of the sample can be achieved in an easy, fast and trustworthy manner. [...]

16 p, 9.6 MB The extent of penetrative Pyrenean deformation in the Ebro foreland Basin : magnetic fabric data from the eastern sector / Parés Casanova, Josep María (Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana-CENIEH) ; Anastasio, David (Lehigh University. Earth and Environmental Sciences Department)
We studied Cenozoic sedimentary rocks in the NE Ebro foreland Basin using the Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) as a proxy for grain preferred orientation. Our new data, in combination with existing results, reveal that penetrative strain by layer-parallel shortening extends well beyond the Pyrenean thrust-wedge front into the Ebro foreland Basin, challenging the concept of the location of "deformation front" in the Southern Pyrenees. [...]

28 p, 6.7 MB Cenozoic contractional tectonics in the Fuegian Andes, southernmost South America : a model for the transference of orogenic shortening to the foreland / Torres Carbonell, P. J. (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina). Centro Austral de Investigaciones Científicas) ; Dimieri, L. V. (Universidad Nacional del Sur. Departamento de Geología)
The Fuegian thrust-fold belt has been subjected to significant shortening during the Cenozoic. Although contemporaneous shortening and uplift was also recognized in the Fuegian Andes central belt (hinterland), previous studies stated that most of that deformation developed out-of-sequence with the thrust-fold belt and hence did not contribute to its shortening. [...]

22 p, 1.6 MB Structural and paleomagnetic evidence for non-rotational kinematics of the South Pyrenean Frontal Thrust at the western termination of the External Sierras (southwestern central Pyrenees) / Oliva Urcia, B. (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra) ; Casas, A. M. (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra) ; Pueyo, E. L. (Oficina de Proyectos de Zaragoza IGME. Departamento de Geología y Geofísica del subsuelo) ; Pocoví Juan, Andrés (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra)
The definition of the structure and kinematics of the South-Pyrenean Frontal thrust, to the west of its westernmost outcrop in the External Sierras is the goal of this work. The methodology used is based on the construction and restoration of three balanced cross-sections. [...]
