La discusión medieval sobre el significado primordial de las palabras / Mora Márquez, Ana María (Universidad de París 1)
En el siglo XIV, Duns Escoto nos habla de un debate sobre el significado primordial de la palabra: si es una cosa o un concepto. El presente artículo muestra que el origen de este debate se encuentra en la primera mitad del siglo XIII; que inicialmente el debate mezcla problemas de naturaleza diferente; y que hacia el final del siglo algunos maestros proceden a una restricción de la noción de significado, de modo que ésta tenga valor explicativo sólo en el campo semiótico.
In the fourteenth century, Duns Scotus tells us about a debate about the primordial significate of words - whether it is a thing or a concept. The present article shows that the origin of the debate can be traced back to the first half of the thirteenth century; that initially the debate involves problems of different nature; and that towards the end of the century some masters narrow the use of the notion of signification so as to leave it an explanatory role only in the semiotic domain.
