15 p, 6.7 MB Amide-driven secondary building unit structural transformations between Zn(II) coordination polymers / Ejarque, Daniel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Calvet, Teresa (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Mineralogia, Petrologia i Geologia Aplicada) ; Font-Bardia, Mercè (Universitat de Barcelona. Centres Científics i Tecnològics) ; Pons Picart, Josefina (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química)
The behavior of coordination polymers (CPs) against external stimuli has witnessed remarkable attention, especially when the resulting CPs present reversible molecular arrays. Accordingly, CPs with these characteristics can lead to differences in their properties owing to these structural differences, being promising for their use as potential molecular switches with diverse applications. 13 p, 786.1 KB Carbonate-Induced structural perturbation of Al hydroxides / Zhang, G. Y. (Agricultural University of Hebei. Department of Resources and Environmental Science) ; Hu, Y. F. (Canadian Light Source) ; Xu, R. K. (Chinese Academy of Sciences. Institute of Soil Science) ; Dynes, J. J. (McMaster University. Department of Chemistry) ; Blyth, R. I. R. (Canadian Light Source) ; Kozak, L. M. (University of Saskatchewan. Department of Soil Science) ; Huang, P. M. (University of Saskatchewan. Department of Soil Science)
The chemistry of Al transformation has been well documented, though little is known about the mechanisms of structural perturbation of Al precipitates by carbonates at a molecular level. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the structural perturbation of Al precipitates formed under the influence of carbonates. [...]

CAS Key Laboratory of Mineralogy and Metallogeny)
The objective of the present study was to investigate changes in the structural, textural, and surface properties of tubular halloysite under heating, which are significant in the applications of halloysite as functional materials but have received scant attention in comparison with kaolinite. [...]

6 p, 420.1 KB A First Cyclodextrin-Transition Metal Coordination Polymer / Xu, Heng (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Rodríguez-Hermida, Sabina (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Pérez-Carvajal, Javier (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Juanhuix, Judith (ALBA Laboratori de Llum de Sincrotró) ; Imaz, Inhar (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Maspoch Comamala, Daniel (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia)
The synthesis, X-ray crystallographic structure, and water uptake measurements of the first coordination polymer made of a cyclodextrin and a transition metal ion (in this case, Cu) are shown. This coordination polymer is made by connecting paddle-wheel Cu units through a γ-cyclodextrin functionalized with eight carboxylate groups, is stable in water, and shows selective water-induced reversible structural transformations.

72 p, 1.1 MB Why is Europe falling behind? Structural transformation and services' productivity differences between Europe and the U.S / Buiatti, Cesare ; Duarte, Joao B. ; Sáenz, Luis Felipe
We explain labour productivity differences of the service sector between Europe and the U. S. through the labour allocation taking place within the service sector. We measure labour productivity using a multisector structural transformation model that decomposes services into 11 sub-sectors comparable across Europe and the U. [...]
