40 p, 5.7 MB Neogene-Quaternary onshore record in the lower Ebro river incised palaeovalley (Ebro margin, Catalan Coastal Range, NE Iberia) / Arasa-Tuliesa, A. (Grup EbreRecerca) ; Cabrera, Lluís (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà.)
The lower Ebro is a bedrock-alluvial mixed incised valley with a persistent degradational stacking architecture developed from latest Serravallian(?) to Holocene. This degradational pattern was probably controlled by isostatic rebound in NE Iberia and punctuated by major relative sea level changes that temporally accentuated or attenuated the palaeovalley entrenchment and sediment retention. 20 p, 3.9 MB Organic-rich shales from internal Betic basins (SE Spain) : potential source rocks analogs for the pre-Messinian Salt play in the western Mediterranean / Permanyer Bastardas, Albert (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Geoquímica, Petrologia i Prospecció Geològica) ; Jorge, Robert (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Geoquímica, Petrologia i Prospecció Geològica) ; Baudino, Roger (Repsol Exploracion S.A) ; Gibert Beotas, Lluís (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Geoquímica, Petrologia i Prospecció Geològica)
Southeastern Spain has a large number of Late Neogene basins with substantial evaporitic deposits that developed under an overall NNW-SSE compressional regime related to the African-European tectonic plates collision. [...]

16 p, 1.8 MB Ultrapotassic volcanic centres as potential paleogeographic indicators : the Mediterranean Tortonian 'salinity crisis', southern Spain / Cambeses, A. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Scarrow, J. H. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología)
Dated peperites associated with ultrapotassic volcanic centres of the Neogene Volcanic Province of southeast Spain are of particular interest within the complex tectonomagmatic context of the Western Mediterranean because they show clear volcano-sedimentary interactions making them a valuable tool for correlating between Miocene sedimentary basins in the region. [...]
