/
Based on the authorâs first-hand experience in translation, this article raises several points on aspects and resources that should possibly be considered when translating modern fiction from remote cultures and periods, focussing on the novel Sense and Sensibility (1811) by Jane Austen, with the ultimate goal of expressing the spirit of the original work as faithfully, credibly and contemporaneously as possible.

[...] The translation into Catalan of Love and Freindship, one of the works written by Jane Austen allowed the reader to get to know a hidden face of the famous English author. Though there are some who disregard these juvenilia and say they don't provide anything new to Austen literary work, others claim the naiveté and insolence of them give many clues to the origin of her literary production.
