This essay focuses on the implication (in case there is such a thing in this particular case) of two controversial terms when talking about translating: «faithful» versus «free». To achieve the main goal of the essay, some significative examples of En Attendant Godot and Fin de Partie, two plays which Samuel Beckett wrote originally in French and later translated into English, are studied.
