29 p, 8.8 MB The chronology and rotational kinematics in the South-Eastern Jaca Basin (Southern Pyrenees) : Las Bellostas section / Pueyo, Emilio (Universidad de Zaragoza) ; Rodríguez-Pintó, Adriana (Freelance Geologist) ; Serra-Kiel, Josep (Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona. Departament de Paleontologia) ; Barnolas, Antonio (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España)
Despite the large number of magnetostratigraphic studies in the South Pyrenean Basin aiming to calibrate the basin chronostratigraphy and the biostratigraphic scales, the South Eastern Jaca Basin remains unexplored from this perspective, and its relation with the Ainsa Basin is not fully understood. Geomodels Research Institute) ; Scholger, Robert (University of Leoben. Chair of Applied Geophysics)
An integrated study including magnetostratigraphy, larger benthic foraminifera and calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy is presented herein. This work was performed in shallow marine siliciclastics rich in larger foraminifera, around the Ypresian/Lutetian boundary in the Ésera valley (South-Central Pyrenees). [...]

33 p, 8.7 MB Lower Eocene sedimentary succession and microfossil biostratigraphy in the central northern Caucasus basin / Shcherbinina, E. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute) ; Iakovleva, A. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute) ; Gavrilov, Yu. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute) ; Golovanova, O. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute) ; Muzylöv, N. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute)
The lower Eocene sediments from the classical Paleogene section exposed along the Kheu River, northern Caucasus, southern Russia are here studied. This ca. 50m thick succession is lithologically contrasting: the lower and upper parts are composed by soft marls separated by a thick Radiolaria-rich unit of non-calcareous and low-calcareous mudstones with intercalations of compact cherty layers. [...]

10 p, 539.4 KB New potential hydrocarbon source-rocks in the Lower Eocene Metlaoui Formation (Central-Northern Tunisia, Northern Africa) / Arfaoui, Adel (Université de Sfax (Tunísia).
Significant quantities of organic matter accumulated and were preserved in central-northern Tunisia during the Ypresian (Early Eocene). The organic geochemical characterization of the organic-rich facies of the Ypresian Metlaoui Formation (Ousselat and Es-Sfeïa sections) shows their significant potential as source rocks and increases interest in the Central-Northern Tunisia oil play. K. M. (Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany) ; Kumar, M. (Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany) ; Srivastava, D. (Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany)
The 32-m thick sedimentary succession of the Paleocene-Eocene Akli Formation (Barmer basin, Rajasthan, India), which is exposed in an open-cast lignite mine, interbed several lignite seams that alternate with fossiliferous carbonaceous clays, green clays and widespread siderite bands and chert nodules.
