A novel broadband design of a planar passive UHF-RFID tag based on a split-ring resonator (SRR) antenna and the T-match network is presented in this work. The radiation properties of the SRR working at its second resonance are exploited to design a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for the first time. [...]

A novel planar Yagi–Uda antenna is presented in this letter. The proposed antenna uses electrically small resonators as radiating elements that behave as short electric dipoles. Its radiation pattern, gain, front-to-back ratio, and efficiency are maintained close to that of a Yagi–Uda antenna of stacked half-wavelength dipoles. [...]

This letter is focused on the modeling, analysis, and applications of microstrip lines loaded with pairs of electrically coupled complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs). Typically, these epsilon-negative (ENG) metamaterial transmission lines are implemented by loading the line with a single CSRR (etched beneath the conductor strip) in the unit cell. [...]

4 p, 1.7 MB Differential microstrip lines with common-mode suppression based on electromagnetic band-gaps (EBGs) / Vélez Rasero, Paris (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Martín, Ferran, (Martín Antolín) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
A technique for the suppression of the common mode in differential (balanced) microstrip lines, based on electromagnetic band-gaps (EBGs), is presented in this letter. It is demonstrated that by periodically modulating the common-mode characteristic impedance of the line and simultaneously forcing the differential-mode impedance to be uniform (and equal to the reference impedance of the differential ports), the common mode can be efficiently suppressed over a certain frequency band, while the line is transparent for the differential-mode. A lumped-element equivalent circuit model of the unit cell of metamaterial transmission lines loaded with pairs of coupled split-ring resonators (SRRs) is presented. It is assumed that the dominant coupling mechanism between the SRRs forming the pair is magnetic, and that the distance between SRRs of adjacent cells is high enough to neglect such additional inter-resonator coupling. Grupo de Microondas) ; Martín, Ferran, (Martín Antolín) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
This letter presents a compact differential-mode (balanced) power splitter with filtering capability and dual-band functionality. This multifunctional device is based on differential-mode composite right/left-handed (DM-CRLH) transmission lines specifically designed to achieve the dual-band behavior and to suppress the common-mode noise over a broad frequency band.
