Departament d'Antropologia social i cultural)
Society's understanding of a conflict is mediated by information provided in mass media, for which researchers stress the importance of analyzing media portrays of stakeholders in a conflict. We analyze information from the Bolivian press regarding the construction of a road crossing the Isiboro-Sécure Indigenous Territory and National Park (TIPNIS). [...]

17 p, 2.1 MB Exploring the ethical dilemmas regarding replication of empirical research in Translation and Interpreting Studies / Olalla-Soler, Christian (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
The concept of replication, broadly defined as the repetition of methods that led to a finding reported by a researcher (Schmidt 2009), is a central concept in the scientific method and a key for scientific progress (Popper 1959; Kuhn 1962). [...]

Hybrid magnetite materials are interesting for both biomedical and catalytic applications due to their well-known biocompatibility, as well as their magnetic and electric properties. In this work we prepared Fe O nanoparticles (NPs) coated with tannic acid (TA), a natural polyphenol, through two different synthetic routes, aiming to understand the influence of TA in the synthesis step and contribute to the development of water-dispersible magnetic materials. Herein we report a novel, ozone-based method for postsynthetic generation of mesoporosity in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). By carefully selecting mixed-ligand Zr-fcu-MOFs based on organic ligand pairs in which one ligand has ozone-cleavable olefin bonds and the other ligand is ozone-resistant, we were able to selectively break the cleavable ligand via ozonolysis to trigger fusion of micropores into mesopores within the MOF framework.
