The global uptake of green infrastructure in urban settings holds considerable promise for fostering both social and ecological benefits. Recognizing the imperative to ensure equitable distribution of these advantages, this paper draws on the rich traditions of justice considerations within urban studies to inform research on urban greening. The current enthusiasm for the circular economy (CE) offers a unique opportunity to advance the impact of research on sustainability transitions. Diverse interpretations of CE by scholars, however, produce partly opposing assessments of its potential benefits, which can hinder progress. [...]

The Hawkes process is a self-exciting Poisson point process, characterised by a conditional intensity function. Since its introduction fifty years ago, it has been the subject of numerous research directions and continues to inspire new methodological and theoretical developments as well as new applications. Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals) ; Garcia-Orellana, Jordi (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física)
Despite the relevance of submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) for ocean biogeochemistry, the microbial dimension of SGD remains poorly understood. SGD can influence marine microbial communities through supplying chemical compounds and microorganisms, and in turn, microbes at the land-ocean transition zone determine the chemistry of the groundwater reaching the ocean.
Francisco Agustín Tárrega (ca. 1553-1602) is the main representative of the group of playwrights known as valencian dramatic school. At the same time, he contributed to the development of the comedia nueva. [...]

31 p, 434.2 KB A Review on Water-Energy Nexus and Directions for Future Studies : From Supply to Demand End / Yoon, Hyerim (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
The intrinsic links between water and energy have produced a new concept known as water-energy nexus (WEN), which has been increasingly studied by scholars and global institutions since the 1990s. This paper provides a review of water-energy nexus studies in an interdisciplinary manner starting from two major approaches-water for energy and energy for water-which focus principally on quantitative studies, but also on policy and institutional dimensions.
