El valor de la guerra como definición del sistema de gobierno macedonio tiene una serie de componentes que permiten comprender la multiplicidad de la problemática para el estudio de las estructuras políticas del reino hasta tiempos de Filipo II y Alejandro, pero más allá de ellos, buena parte de estas características se mantienen vigentes para los nuevos dinastas helenísticos, mientras que, por el contrario, algunos de estos elementos deben ser reformulados para permitir la renovación del sistema y legitimar la declaración de autoridad real de los diádicos.
War, in its meaning as definition of the Macedonian government system, had some components that allow us to understand the multiplicity of the problems for the study of the political structures of the kingdom until the age of Philip II and Alexander, but far away from them, most of these characteristics could be maintained by the new Hellenistic dynasts, but, on the contrary, some of these must be reformulated in order to allow the renewal of the system and the legitimacy of the claim of Royal authority made by the Diadochs.
