Here, we describe the first systematic study on the mechanism of substrate-selective inhibition of mammalian ALOX15 orthologs. For this purpose, we prepared a series of N-substituted 5-(1H-indol-2-yl)anilines and found that (N-(5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenyl)sulfamoyl)carbamates and their monofluorinated analogues are potent and selective inhibitors of the linoleate oxygenase activity of rabbit and human ALOX15. Actualment se sap que malalties com l'arterioesclerosi o l'osteoporosi estan directament relacionades amb l'activitat de l'enzim ALOX15. Un estudi realitzat pel grup de recerca de l'àrea de Física-Química del Departament de Química de la UAB ha observat en diversos experiments l'important paper del residu Gln596 per a l'estabilitat d'aquest enzim, molt important per a controlar el desenvolupament d'aquesta mena d'afeccions.
Actualmente se sabe que enfermedades como la arterioesclerosis o la osteoporosis están relacionadas con la actividad de la enzima ALOX15. Un estudio realizado por el grupo de investigación del área de Física-Química del Departamento de Química de la UAB ha observado en varios experimentos el papel del residuo Gln596 para la estabilidad de dicha enzima, muy importante para controlar el desarrollo de este tipo de afecciones.
