The other side of language, literature, and living : a call to hedge the dying art
/
Panda, Sachidananda (XIM University (Índia))
A written document is no longer treated as a piece of literature; rather, readers' needs have surpassed the limits of traditional expectations, beyond the purview of common scrutiny. A piece of writing has become a stale reminder of the time spent; the recurrent images of everyday life and living, the bread and butter of the populace, their anguish and pain, the contours of traditional moorings, nuances and nemesis, rituals and rebuttals clubbed together have become the choice of the present time. [...] 'A, fredome is a noble thing!'
[...] Barbour's Bruce and Hary's Wallace, the poems about the heroes in the struggle to regain Scottish independence after the English invasion at the end of the thirteenth and beginning of the fourteenth centuries -two major works of non-Gaelic Scottish medieval literature- had not been translated into Spanish until the author of this paper did so.
[...] Since its birth as a contact language, Nigerian pidgin has evolved to become the country's first language and the most widely spoken creole language in the world. It has the potential to bridge the inter-ethnic divide while still presenting a distinctly African colour, making it a priori an ideal post-colonial vehicle for Anglophone writers eager to "Africanise" the canon.
/
Falconí Trávez, Diego (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Filologia Espanyola) ;
[...] Law and Literature studies enable the construction of a critical space, which aims to build dialogic bridges, as well as interpellations in each discipline. From a perspective linked to Human Rights we use literary testimony, a scriptural genre that is part of heterogeneous and contradictory literatures (Cornejo Polar), to analyze how legal and literary discourses on sexual diversity and sexual dissidence in Ecuador, give account of violations of fundamental rights. /
Falconí Trávez, Diego (Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Equador)) ;
[...] This article intends to, from the vertex between gender studies and post/decolonial theories, examine key elements regarding the narrative of Puerto Rican author Yolanda Arroyo Pizarro which allow understanding the construction of subjectivities through various writings in which race, class, coloniality and sexual desire are constantly tensed; to the extent that, sometimes, they articulate political-aesthetic projects that seem contradictory and that serve to understand certain contemporary identity crossroads.
