Sixty-two 14C dates are analyzed in combination with a recently established local floating tree-ring sequence for the Early Neolithic site of La Draga (Banyoles, northeast Iberian Peninsula). Archaeological data, radiometric and dendrochronological dates, as well as sedimentary and micro-stratigraphical information are used to build a Bayesian chronological model, using the ChronoModel 2. 14 p, 2.1 MB Radiocarbon dating and Balearic prehistory : reviewing the periodization of the prehistoric sequence / Micó Pérez, Rafael (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Prehistòria)
The Balearic Islands are one of the most widely dated regions in Europe, totaling about 800 dates. The aim of this paper is to propose an updated periodization for the prehistory of Majorca and Minorca based on the analysis of a series of absolute dates for over 100 archaeological sites and in combination with a critical assessment of the associated contextual information. Departament de Geologia) ; Trilla Arrufat, José (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Valls, Maria Luïsa (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia)
We have studied the isotopic composition of recently precipitated travertines to determine the initial 14C activity of ancient travertine deposits. We found that the 14C activity of recent travertines of northeastern Spain was a function of the distance from the spring, resulting in variations in the initial 14C activity of the ancient travertine formations. This research stems from an earlier study of the lichen covering with oxalate deposits at the Arc de Bera monument. The initial objective of dating these biodeposits opened up other questions concerning the structure of these deposits and how they were formed. [...]
