Their titles are one of the key elements for the commercial success of movies, but if we look at how mov- ie titles are translated, we could conclude that their meaning has been changed at random. Moreover, although a number of researchers have discussed the role played by titles, like Bransford and Johnson (1972) and Genette (1987), or the translation of titles, as Nord (1993), when coming to the speci c genre of movies, there is scarce academic research about the translation of movie titles, perhaps because it has not been considered as a thorough translation activity. Aquest article presenta l'anàlisi de 24 pel·lícules d'animació doblades de l'anglès al català. Després d'unes reflexions generals sobre la traducció dels noms propis, s'estudien els antropònims i topònims que es troben en el corpus seleccionat amb l'objectiu de definir les particularitats que té la traducció d'aquestes unitats en el cinema d'animació infantil.
This article presents the analysis of 24 animation films dubbed from English into Catalan. After some general considerations on the translation of proper nouns, all toponyms and anthroponyms found in the selected corpus are studied, and the specificities of the translation of proper nouns in animation films addressed to children are highlighted.
