11 p, 1.4 MB Constraints on alluvial clay mineral assemblages in semiarid regions. The Souss Wadi Basin (Morocco, Northwestern Africa) / Elmouden, A. (Université Ibn Zohr. Faculté des Sciences Laboratoire de Géologie Appliquée et Géo-Environnement (LAGA GE)) ; Bouchaou, L. (Université Ibn Zohr. Faculté des Sciences Laboratoire de Géologie Appliquée et Géo-Environnement) ; Snoussi, M. (Université Mohamed V. Département de Géologie)
Illite, chlorite and kaolinite, resulting directly from substratum weathering, dominate the clay assemblages recorded in altered rocks and soils of the Souss Wadi watershed. Nevertheless, the transformation and neoformation of diverse clay minerals, which is mainly controlled by changing climatic, lithological and topographic conditions, enables one to establish three distinctive source areas. 12 p, 1.2 MB Dissolution of minor sulphides present in a pyritic sludge at pH 3 and 25º C / Cama Robert, Jordi (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Espanya). Institut de Ciències de la Terra Jaume Almera) ; Acero Salazar, Patricia (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Espanya). Institut de Ciències de la Terra Jaume Almera)
The steady-state dissolution rates of galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite at pH 3 under oxygen saturated atmosphere and at 25ºC are obtained by means of non-stirred flow-through experiments. These dissolution rates are compared with those estimated by dissolving pyritic sludge from the Aznalcollar mining tailings composed of pyrite and minor sulphides galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Institut für Geowissenchaften) ; Marcos, A. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Farias Arquer, Pedro (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Gallastegui Suárez, Gloria María (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Geological Survey of Canada. Continental Geoscience Division ; Instituto Geológico y Minero de España
The northern termination of the Schistose Domain of the Galicia-Trás-os-Montes Zone is a tectonic slice named the Rio Baio Thrust Sheet, which is sandwiched between the Cabo Ortegal Complex and the Ollo de Sapo Domain of the Central-Iberian Zone. [...]

Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Ramos Guerrero, Emilio (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines)
Fossil charophytes were recorded in two different stratigraphic units from the non- marine Palaeogene of the Balearic Islands. In the Peguera Limestone Fm. of Mallorca the charophyte flora is characterised by two assemblages. [...]

The new species Floricomus fossilis (Araneae: Linyphiidae) is described from Miocene Dominican Republic amber. This is the first fossil record of Floricomus, extending its known geological range by 15-20 Ma, and is the first record of the genus outside North America and Canada. [...]
