7 p, 2.8 MB Proximity-induced spin-orbit coupling in graphene/ Bi1.5Sb0.5Te1.7Se1.3 heterostructures / Jafarpisheh, S. (Peter Grünberg Institute) ; Cummings, Aron (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Watanabe, Kenji (National Institute for Material Science (Tsukuba, Japan)) ; Taniguchi, Takashi (National Institute for Material Science (Tsukuba, Japan)) ; Beschoten, Bernd (RWTH Aachen University) ; Stampfer, Cristoph (RWTH Aachen University)
The weak intrinsic spin-orbit coupling in graphene can be greatly enhanced by proximity coupling. Here, we report on the proximity-induced spin-orbit coupling in graphene transferred by hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) onto the topological insulator Bi1. [...]

(Université de Liège. Complex and Entangled Systems from Atoms to Materials) ; Beschoten, Bernd (RWTH Aachen University)
We present time-resolved Kerr rotation measurements, showing spin lifetimes of over 100 ns at room temperature in monolayer MoSe. These long lifetimes are accompanied by an intriguing temperature-dependence of the Kerr amplitude, which increases with temperature up to 50 K and then abruptly switches sign. [...]

(Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen. Institut für physikalisches) ; American Physical Society
Exchange bias effects have been induced along the perpendicular-to-film direction in nanostructures prepared by electron beamlithography, consisting of a ferromagnetic [Pt/Co] multilayer exchange coupled to an antiferromagnet (FeMn). [...]

Departament de Física) ; American Physical Society
The asymmetric magnetization reversal in exchange biased Fe/MnF2 involves coherent (Stoner-Wohlfarth) magnetization rotation into an intermediate, stable state perpendicular to the applied field. We provide here the experimentally tested analytical conditions for the unambiguous observation of both longitudinal and transverse magnetization components using the magneto-optical Kerr effect.
