L'anàlisi de la cobertura que TVE i TV3 van fer de la crisi humanitària registrada a Haití després del terratrèmol del gener de 2010 mostra que, tot i que hi ha una perspectiva preocupada per la sort de les víctimes, en un nombre elevat de peces informatives de les dues cadenes hi ha tòpics i estereotips habituals sobre els països del Sud i el discurs té sovint un to paternalista i neocolonial marcat.
