Controlling the shape of metal-organic framework (MOF) crystals is important for understanding their crystallization and useful for myriad applications. However, despite the many advances in shaping of inorganic nanoparticles, post-synthetic shape control of MOFs and, in general, molecular crystals remains embryonic. [...]

In current top-down nanofabrication methodologies the design freedom is generally constrained to the two lateral dimensions, and is only limited by the resolution of the employed nanolithographic technique. [...]

Here, we report the synthesis of (multi)-layered zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8/-67) composite particles via a sequential deconstruction-reconstruction process. We show that this process can be applied to construct ZIF-8-on-ZIF-67 composite particles whose cores are the initially etched particles. [...]

A la manera de Callot : la poética ecfrástica de E.T.A. Hoffmann
/
Payán Martin, Juan Jesús (City University of New York. Lehman College)
[...] From a historical standpoint, the fantastic tale derives from the works of E. T. A. Hoffmann and their subsequent reception in Europe, with France as a disseminating epicenter. Although the intermedial character of his production have been noted, critics have not sufficiently studied how Hoffmann drew upon Jacques Callot's etchings in order to express his own aesthetic program.
