Very little information about local breed goat milk is available, which is relevant for biodiversity preservation and local cheese production. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of breed and week of lactation on milk mineral profile of five Italian local breeds (Garganica, Girgentana, Jonica, Maltese and Mediterranean Red) and a cosmopolitan breed (Saanen). [...] This article focuses on indigenous subjectivity through the "hielero"(ice merchant) profession in two documentaries: Los hieleros del Chimborazo, and Baltazar Ushca, el tiempo congelado. In these films, as well as in other literary and cultural archives, the intertext "ice"becomes a useful metaphor for both eurocentered and indigenist views, which helps explain(or digest) native otherness, from a contemplative colonial and postcolonial perspective. Indigenous land use occurring on temporal scales over centuries or millennia shapes forests in specific ways and influences the dynamics of forest ecosystems. It is challenging to study such land use, but analysis of "culturally modified trees" (CMTs) can give precise spatial and temporal information on past land use by indigenous people. [...]

Indigenous Peoples are long-term custodians of their lands, but only recently are their contributions to conservation starting to be recognized in biodiversity policy and practice. Tropical forest loss and degradation are lower in Indigenous lands than unprotected areas, yet the role of Indigenous Peoples' Lands (IPL) in biodiversity conservation has not been properly assessed from regional to global scales.
