A semejanza de otros países, durante la I Restauración se crea y se desarrolla en España una inspección médico-escolar entre cuyas funciones se contemplaban algunas relacionadas con la educación física, tanto propiamente escolar como de las llamadas instituciones complementarias; sus correctos planteamientos iniciales encontraron diversas resistencias que condujeron a la progresiva eliminación de dichas funciones.
As done in another countries, during the Spanish 1st Restoration a medical school inspection was created and developed which among their functions some physical education related ones were provided, both in curricular as in the so-called complementary institutions; their initial correct approaches faced some resistances that leaded to the progressive removal of these functions.
