We report zero-field routing of spin waves in a multiferroic heterostructure comprising a ferromagnetic Fe film and a ferroelectric BaTiO3 substrate with fully correlated strain-coupled domains. In the Fe film, a regular alternation of magnetic anisotropy produces a back-and-forth rotation of uniform magnetization in zero magnetic field. [...]

Cloaking a three-dimensional object in free space from electromagnetic waves has recently become a theoretical possibility, although practical implementations can only be made in reduced schemes. If static fields are involved, requirements are less restrictive and some practical realizations have been possible. [...]

5 p, 1.2 MB Controlling vortex chirality and polarity by geometry in magnetic nanodots / Agramunt Puig, Sebastià (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Sánchez Moreno, Álvaro (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física)
The independent control of both vortex chirality and polarity is a significant challenge in magnetic devices based on nano-sized magnetic vortex structures. By micromagnetic simulations here, we show that in soft ferromagnetic nanodots with an adequate modulated thickness, the desired combination of chirality and polarity can be achieved just by changing the direction of the in-plane applied magnetic field.
