Corral de Lobato, a karstic site in the area of Molina de Aragón has been studied in a preliminary way. Even though there are not many Neogene karstic sites in the Iberian Chain, they occur in four clusters, with ages ranging from latest middle Miocene (MN7/8) to early Pleistocene (MN17). [...]

39 p, 1.1 MB Aragonictis araid, gen. et sp. nov., a small-sized hypercarnivore (Carnivora, Mustelidae) from the late middle Miocene of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain) / Valenciano Vaquero, Alberto (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra. Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Ciencias Ambientales de Aragón) ; Morales, Jorge (Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales. Departamento de Paleobiología) ; Azanza, Beatriz (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra. Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Ciencias Ambientales de Aragón) ; DeMiguel, Daniel (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
Small to medium-sized mustelids from the last 18 million years represent a heterogeneous group of carnivorans with a wide-ranging record in the northern hemisphere. They were first referred to the genera Mustela and Martes, but lately ascribed to the latter, and hence considered as the longest-lived genus within Mustelidae. [...]

University of California Museum of Paleontology. Department of Integrative Biology) ; Abella, Juan (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Morales Saldaña, Jorge Manuel (Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (Republic of Panama))
We report the finding of two partial specimens of Cryptolepas rhachianecti (Cirripedia, Coronulidae), a coronulid barnacle known only to inhabit the skin of gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus), in Pleistocene-aged sediments from the Canoa Basin, Ecuador. [...]

Departament de Botànica i Geologia) ; Jorge Morales, Jorge (Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN-CSIC))
We describe two carnivoran coprolites found in the pseudokarst natural carnivore trap of Batallones-3, from the Late Miocene of Spain. The larger one, comprising multiple indistinguishable fragments of broken and corroded bones, indicates that the producer of the dropping might have been highly capable of crushing the softer parts of large bones. Carnivoran-dominated fossil sites are scarce in the fossil record but provide precious information on the diversity and ecology of past carnivoran guilds. The Cerro de los Batallones sites host the oldest carnivoran-dominated assemblages, with the highest carnivoran abundances observed in the fossil record. [...]

This article investigates the monodromy conjecture for a space monomial curve that appears as the special fiber of an equisingular family of curves with a plane branch as generic fiber. Roughly speaking, the monodromy conjecture states that every pole of the motivic, or related, Igusa zeta function induces an eigenvalue of monodromy. [...]
