Aquest article mostra l'estudi i interpretació de les solucions negatives d'un problema geomètric presents en els llibres de text de Geometria Analítica utilitzats a Espanya durant el segle XIX. Mitjançant l'anàlisi de contingut d'onze obres hem identificat tres interpretacions de les solucions negatives: indiquen un canvi de posició, assenyalen un error en les hipòtesis del problema o una possible modificació de l'enunciat que dóna lloc a un problema més general, o bé l'existència d'una quantitat inversa.
This article shows the study and interpretation of the negative solutions of a geometric problem found in the textbooks of Analytical Geometry used in Spain during the nineteenth century. Through the content analysis of eleven books, we have identified three interpretations of negative solutions: they indicate a change of position; they point out an error in the hypotheses of the problem or a possible modification of the formulation that implies a more general problem, or the existence of an inverse quantity.
