Chemical targeting of amyloids / Garcia-Pardo, Javier (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina "Vicent Villar Palasí") ; Ventura, Salvador (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Bioquímica i de Biologia Molecular)
Cryo-EM structures of chemical compound bound α-synuclein amyloid fibrils shed light on the mechanism by which small molecules bind to cross-beta-sheet amyloid structures, opening the gateway to rational drug design for targeting pathological amyloid assemblies.

The substantial individual heterogeneity that characterizes people with mental illness is often ignored by classical case-control research, which relies on group mean comparisons. Here we present a comprehensive, multiscale characterization of the heterogeneity of gray matter volume (GMV) differences in 1,294 cases diagnosed with one of six conditions (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia) and 1,465 matched controls. 57 p, 2.1 MB A bridge from neuroscientific models to recurrent neural networks. Derivation of continuous-time connectionist models from neuroscience computational principles / Gort Vicente, Joan ; Losilla Vidal, Josep Maria, dir. ; Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Facultat de Psicologia
In the last years, recurrent neural networks with continuous dynamics have been applied to model many neurobiological phenomena. However, the literature on the physiological foundations of these connectionist networks is practically non-existent, as they are closer to artificial neural networks than neuroscientific computational models. [...]

Stage presence is a recurrent source of discussion and research in theatre. Since the 1900s, many theatre teachers and directors have been trying to objectify acting, i. e. the art of psychophysical actions, providing several effective methods which have led to a lack of consensus due to its intuitive and pragmatic nature.
