The danger of shedding the content in grammar teaching : an example in Czech
/
Štěpáník, Stanislav (Palacký University in Olomouc)
The role of grammar in L1 teaching has been a topic of a long-lasting debate. Czech language instruction is no exception. Based on an almost 200-year-old tradition, the prevailing model of teaching Czech is grammar- and knowledge-based. [...]

[...] In this paper it is shown that the way language is taught has some unintended consequences, both from the point of view of the knowledge actually transmitted (false and outdated information), and from the point of view of the competences that have to be acquired: a formal language and citizen values. Intersubjective Impersonals in Context : a Multivariate Analysis of Spanish "Uno" and "Se" in Spoken Language
/
De Cock, Barbara (Université catholique de Louvain)
This paper offers a multivariate analysis of the alternation between 2 Spanish constructions traditionally considered as impersonal, namely uno and se, in 3 different spoken language genres. The proposed analysis will show that, while the traditionally described syntactic factors related to this alternation and to the analysis of each of these forms account for part of the alternation, it is the much less studied pragmatic-discursive factors that offer a better explanation. [...]
/
[...] The paper denounces Europe's war against refugees and migrants. It suggests that women could strategically find their best allies in these groups. Both women and refugees/migrants are "missing citizens" of sorts, and share the interest of deconstructing the curent neoliberal and masculinist hegemony. [...] [...]

In recent years, modified Mediterranean marine shells (especially Columbella rustica) have been documented in Mesolithic sites in the Southern Pyrenees and Ebro Basin. Some scholars suggest that the presence of this gastropod allows us to identify a long-distance social network that created a common "cultural landscape". Traduzione del sé : l'ineludibile necessità del tradurre
/
[...] The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that translation is a necessary and inextricable practice, linked to psychological and social spheres. Analyzing translation under multidisciplinary perspectives, this article is intended to point out that translation praxis is spontaneous and connaturated to individual, who must translate his inconscious impulses into razionalized behaviour to interact pregnantly with the social contest in which he is.
