ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The ISMEC2016 conference will build on the success of previous ISMEC meetings, being the 43th of a series of meetings that begun in 1974 as the annual congress of the Italian group of “Thermodynamics of complexes”. More than a decade later, with the addition of Spanish participants, it became the Italian-Spanish Congress on Thermodynamics of Metal Complexes (ISMEC), with annual meetings alternating between Italy and Spain. After the 2010 edition of the congress at Bilbao, participation was widened again and the name was changed to “International Symposium on Metal Complexes”. The conference aims to provide a valuable discussion forum on recent advances on the above mentioned areas; fostering new collaborations among researchers from diverse backgrounds with complementary skills and goals is of great importance. In addition to lectures covering a wide range of topics, a poster session will facilitate discussions in an open atmosphere, providing multiple opportunities for informal discussions in the afternoon and evenings, provides an ideal forum for attendees to brainstorm as well as to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The meeting is focused on different aspects of the study and application of the thermodynamics of complexes in the fields of Analytical, Biomedical, Environmental, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, in particular focusing on topics such as:

3. Metal-complex interactions with biomolecules
4. Metals in diseases: transport, homeostasis and toxicity
5. Metal-based drugs: therapy and diagnosis
6. Analytical methods and sensors, based on metal complexes
7. Nanostructured metal complexes
8. Proteomics and Metabolomics
9. Metals in supramolecular chemistry
10. Computer methods for equilibrium analysis
